Puppy Social offers you and your puppy a chance to socialize with other owners and puppies. Socializing your puppy is an important part of puppy rearing. It enables your puppy to grow into a well adjusted dog. Certified Pet Dog Trainer, Aditi Terpstra, will be there to answer basic puppy questions and to educate owners on how to read dog body language. October Classes

This fall I'll be running another puppy class at the Lewiston Veterinary Clinic. Offered to pups that are six months or under. The course will run for five weeks, on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm-7:30pm.
Dogs must be current on vaccinations. Only a six foot leash and standard buckle collar are requested.

Class Extension

I have extended the registration for Puppy Kindergarten and Positive Reinforcement Training Course 1 through the second week in July.
Each course will run for four weeks. PK on Tuesday nights at 7pm and PRTC1 on Wednesday nights at 7pm.
Both courses will be held at West Lake Winona (small lake), lake side on Sioux St.
If the weather is bad, then the alternate location is the Winona Humane Society building.

June Classes

The next round of puppy and dog training classes are starting the last week in June. Puppy Kindergarten begins Tuesday June 26 and will run every Tuesday evening for four weeks, except July 3rd. Positive Reinforcement Training 1 (Manners 1) will begin Wednesday June 27 and will run every Wednesday evening for four weeks, except for July 4.
Puppy Kindergarten is for youngsters between the ages of 8 and 16 weeks of age at the start of class. PRT1 is for any dog past 16 weeks of age at the start of class.

Positive Reinforcement Training Course 1

This course is geared towards those of you that are just getting started with Clicker Training, getting back into it or are continuing with your puppy.
You'll be getting the real deal with this course, some people claim to be Clicker Trainers but don't have a formal foundation of what clicker training really is. I am a Certified Pet Dog Trainer with an emphasis on Positive Reinforcement Training. I've attended several Conferences and Seminars that were strictly Positive Reinforcement based.
What you and your dog will take away from this course:
Understanding what Clicker Training is, getting your dog thinking and working for the click & reward, basic manners, husbandry skills, greeting people properly and respecting your space.
Clickers are used in the beginning of training, but as your dog learns the desired behavior, the clicker will gradually be faded away. We'll show you how.
One clicker per registered team will be given out the first night of class. Additional clickers and training gear will be available for sale 15 min prior and following class.
Please bring a six foot leash, flat buckle collar, gentle leader or easy-walk harness, dime sized yummy treats and an open mind to class.
A limited number of slots are available to ensure quality time with each team.
Must be pre-registered to attend class. Signed Registration & Liability forms, proof of dog's current vaccinations and a deposit will be needed at the time of Registration.

Puppy Kindergarten is a Positive Reinforcement based course geared towards puppy development. Puppy ages between 8 weeks and 16 weeks. Socialize your puppy with other puppies & people, learn about proper puppy care, teaching manners, husbandry skills and potty training.
1 clicker per puppy will given out the first night of class. Additional clickers and training gear will be available for sale 15 min before and after class.
A limited number of slots are available to ensure quality time with participants and limited distractions.
Signed Registration & Liability forms, proof of current puppy vaccinations and a deposit will be needed at the time of registration.

We are actually running real, honest-to-goodness classes right now! We're currently teaching a combination dog/puppy obedience class that's being held in Lewiston, but are looking forward to moving to a space in Winona in the near future.
