About

Aditi Czarnomski, CPDT-KSA has been involved with animals since she was a child. She grew up understanding that animals were always family and should be treated with respect and kindness. In 2006, she became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. She has been coaching people and their animals for over twenty years. Aditi has gained her knowledge of animal behavior and training by attending conferences, classes, and seminars taught by world renowned behaviorists and trainers.

The world of animal behavior and training is always changing as new discoveries are made each day. Within the past twenty years, canine and equine training has made great progress when it comes to understanding how they think and communicate. It’s important for behaviorists, and trainers to keep up-to-date on the latest scientific findings and ethical means of working with animals.

Aditi follows the same approach as the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior when learning about and working with animals: “AVSAB derives its humane behavior modification techniques from the field of applied animal behavior where veterinary and behavioral science professionals specialize in applying scientific principles, learned from the study of domestic and wild animal behavior, learning theory, and counseling, to companion animals.”

Aditi has been a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the Certification Counsel of Professional Dog Trainers since 2006. She regularly assists rescue groups with performing behavior evaluations, and consulting with foster families on how to train and interact with their companion animals.  Aditi is a certified Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator for the American Kennel Club.

Aditi is currently employed at Gigi’s: Shelter for Dogs in Columbus, Ohio where she serves as the Director of Behavior and Training and works under the guidance of Dr. Meghan Herron, DVM, DACVB.

She offers speaking services for groups and conferences; giving presentations on varying topics such as: Enrichment for Animals, Understanding BSL and Breaking Myths, Defensive Dog Handling, Understanding Canine Body Language, Assessing Animals in the Shelter, Understanding and Caring for Companion Birds, Getting Started with Marker-Reward Training; from Cats to Horses.

She deployed for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) as a Professional Responder with the Behavioral Sciences Team, where she conducted behavior evaluations, trained other professional responders on how to handle and communicate with the animals, and worked one-on-one with animals doing training, behavior modification, and play groups for nearly a decade.

Aditi also served as an Animal Control Officer for the City of Winona, assisting with call-outs after hours for over ten years.

Aditi works with a wide variety of animals including, but not limited to: dogs, cats, parrots, and horses. All species of animals are capable of learning, it’s up to us to find what motivates each animal to learn and to encourage them to learn with us!

Aditi shares her life with Jasmine the African Grey Parrot, Steve the Siamese rescue cat, and three rescue dogs: Sirius Black, Juniper Star, and Tig Gisele. When not working with animals and their people, she enjoys being outdoors hiking and biking, reading, watching movies, listening to podcasts and music, and being in good company.
