About
Aditi Czarnomski Terpstra has been involved with animals since she was child. She grew up understanding that animals were always family and should be treated with respect and kindness. In 2006, she became a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and is currently the only certified trainer in the Winona area. She has been teaching dogs and their people for over ten years. Aditi has gained her knowledge of animal behavior and training by attending conferences, classes and seminars taught by the leading trainers and behaviorists in the world.
The world of animal behavior and training is always changing as new discoveries are made each day. Within the past twenty years, the world of dog training has made great progress when it comes to understanding how dogs think and communicate. It’s important for behaviorists and trainers to keep up-to-date on the latest scientific findings and ethical means of training.
Aditi follows the same approach as the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior when learning about and working with animals: “AVSAB derives its humane behavior modification techniques from the field of applied animal behavior where veterinary and behavioral science professionals specialize in applying scientific principles, learned from the study of domestic and wild animal behavior, learning theory, and counseling, to companion animals.”
In addition to becoming a Certified Professional Dog Trainer through the Certification Counsel of Professional Dog Trainers, Aditi is also a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. She is a certified Safety Assessment for Evaluating Re-homing (SAFER) assessor through the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Aditi is also a certified Canine Good Citizen (CGC) evaluator for the American Kennel Club (AKC). She is also a mentor trainer for Animal Behavior College students.
Aditi not only works with dogs, but she also trains cats, birds, horses and small animals. All species of animals are capable of learning, it’s up to us to find out what motivates each animal to learn and to encourage them to learn with us!
